If you are lucky enough to have a beachside wedding what more do you need? How about some fun easy DIY decorations to compliment the awesome surf and sand?
I just want to show all the great pictures!
The beach inspired theme for today came from having to restage my booth at Southern Crossing. When you have retail space staging never ends. I am not complaining it’s just that sometimes I get everything looking picture perfect and then a few days later things have been bought, moved, shuffled and it looks like I neglect my space.
Well yesterday was one of those staging days and since the weather has warmed up dramatically (it was 90 yesterday) thoughts of summer came to mind and when I think summer I think, Beach Time!!
I didn’t even realize I had been accumulating beachy stuff until I started pulling it out to take up to Southern Crossing.
I know, where is the DIY wedding idea for today? It’s coming right now.
First let’s think out of the box a little bit. What would make a great bar/buffet table at the beach? Something portable maybe? No, not an igloo cooler silly. How about a cool vintage wooden ironing board. Can’t get that in your head? How about a couple of pictures?
Now let’s take a look at some of the other easy things you could do for a beach side wedding. How about painting some old drawers to use for storage of glasses?
Shop the thrifts for the sea glass colors. The mix and match is perfect for the laid back beach style. Remember start early when you are planning a DIY wedding.
I have a picture on my wedding pinterest board that shows these starfish used as a runner on a table. They painted them turquoise. When you are done here click on the Pinterest button and take a look.
Here is a link if you want to make some starfish
Now how about something fun for table numbers.
I acquired a lot of plastic seahorses and while the shape is good that is about it. So, to turn them into fab table numbers I spray painted them with a base coat of turquoise and then I add some blues and greens with acrylic paint.
You should probably seal them with a clear coat to make them hold up, just saying.
I then cut out my table numbers from—sandpaper. You laugh?
What goes better with a beach theme than sandpaper? Hey, I am trying to use things we all have.
You don’t have plastic seahorses? Well, that is where starting early comes in. The dollar stores usually have similar items on their shelves in the spring and early summer so stock up.
And here is the seahorse as a table number
How about some sweet ribbon streamers
You can even find wedding toppers in beach themes. I added a few to my pinterest wedding board
Well, that’s all I have for now. Enjoy the day
